Over the course of just 25 hours in April 1977, four independent teenage witnesses in the small town of Dover, Massachusetts saw something that has never been explained. A small, hairless humanoid with peach-colored sandpaper-textured skin, an enormous watermelon-shaped head, and large glowing orange eyes — but no nose, no mouth, and no ears. Just eyes on a featureless face.

The first sighting came at 10:30 PM on April 21, when 17-year-old Bill Bartlett spotted the creature perched on a stone wall along Farm Street, its long tendril-like fingers wrapped around the rocks. Later that same night, 15-year-old John Baxter encountered a similar figure standing on a hillside on Miller Hill Road. The next evening, 15-year-old Abby Brabham saw it crouched on all fours near Springdale Avenue.

All four witnesses were interviewed separately by investigators and produced remarkably consistent descriptions. None had a history of fabrication or attention-seeking. Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman coined the name "Dover Demon" — a name the creature has carried ever since.

What makes the Dover Demon unique among cryptids is its brevity. It appeared. Four people saw it. Then it was gone forever. No footprints, no physical evidence, no further sightings — just four drawings and four stories that have never been debunked.

"I, Bill Bartlett, swear on a stack of Bibles that I saw this creature." — Written on Bartlett's original sketch.
